The MSI Optix MAG251RX is one of the many new generations of 24.5-Inch 1080p 240Hz IPS monitors with 1ms GtG response times and was released in January 2020.
Performance: This monitor contains the latest IPS 1080p 240Hz panel by AU Optronics with 178° wide viewing angles, a 400-nit peak brightness, a 1,000:1 static contrast ratio and ~100% sRGB color gamut. Running in its fastest overdrive mode the monitor offers response times comparable to some TN panels.
Design & Build Quality: The design quality is fairly average, not looking overly cheap or premium. The bezels are narrow and there is an RGD LED strip on the back together with an esports logo. The plastic stand is quite strong and allows you to adjust the height, and tilt but it cant be rotated. There is a USB HUB, USB C, audio jack, display port 1.2, and 2 x HDMI ports on the back.
OSD, Calibration and Setup: The OSD is controlled by a joystick on the back. There are a good range of presets and calibration options. Out of the box, the color accuracy and calibration is much better than average. The contrast ratio is great for an IPS monitor.
Adaptive Sync Technology: Freesync and G-Sync Compatible
Verdict: The MSI Optix MAG251RX is one of the best 1080p 240hz IPS monitors offering the fastest refresh rates and great color accuracy. A great choice for great performance comparable to some TN panels, with better the viewing angles and colors.
