The 240Hz monitors reviewed below are the best 1080p 240Hz monitors on the market. They all offer extreme performance coupled with ultra fast response times.
*April 2020 – Until recently only TN Panel monitors could achieve 1ms response times at 240Hz refresh rate. However, in October 2019 we saw the introduction of the world’s first 240hz IPS monitors offering extreme performance coupled with better colors and wider viewing angles than TN Panels can provide. Whilst we still expect TN panels to have the edge on performance, the gap has considerably narrowed and many gamers may want to consider the new generation of 240Hz IPS monitors that are being released throughout 2020.
Many of the major monitor brands make their monitors using panels manufactured by AU Optronics Corp. When different brands use the same panel type you can expect the performance to be similar. For example, the MSI Optix MAG251RX and ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM are both made using the same AU Optronics IPS Panel. In most cases, your decision should come down to other factors like build quality, panel size, customer service, adaptive sync tech, and out of the box calibration.

Performance: This monitor has extremely high performance but we wont compare this factor, See above for the reason why.
Design & Build Quality: As with most of Alienware products the black and silver design looks great and will appeal to most gamers. It has a very premium look and feel with a high-build quality. There are 3 lines of LEDs along the back together with the Alienware logo which can be configured to display a range of colors. There are thin bezels around the edges with a thicker one at the bottom side which contains the Alienware logo on the bottom right corner. The are a generous selection of ports hidden on the underside including 4 USB ports, although older connections like DVI are absent.
Adaptive Sync Technology: There are both G Sync (AW2518H) and FreeSync versions (AW2518F).
OSD, Calibration and Setup: Out of the box accuracy is average but acceptable by most users. There are multiple preset modes available but gaming professionals will need to spend some time customising the settings to get the most out of this monitor.
Other Considerations: One benefit is the fantastic customer support offered by Dell (Alienware is a subsidiary of Dell) if you have any technical issues with your monitor, for example if it is faulty, you can often easily secure a next day replacement.
2. ASUS ROG Swift PG258Q Review
Pros – Comprehensive, easy to use OSD menu | Attractive design & stand

Screen size: 24.5-inches | Panel type: TN | Resolution: 1920 x 1080 | Response time: 1ms | Refresh rate: 240Hz | Aspect ratio: 16:9
The ASUS ROG Swift PG258Q is ASUS’ flagship 1080p 240Hz monitor and is a popular choice for many gamers.
Performance: This monitor has extremely high performance but we wont compare this factor, See above for the reason why.
Design & Build Quality: The monitor has a stylish copper trimmed 3 pronged stand with a ASUS ROG logo light that projects down onto your desk. The light has 3 different intensities and can be turned off. The monitor has thin bezels which is good if you want a multi monitor setup. There is a HDMI, Displayport, 3 USB Ports and an audio jack. 4. BenQ ZOWIE XL2546 Review
Pros – Dyac and black eQualiser tech | S-Switch | Minimalist design
Cons – No adaptive sync
Screen size: 24.5-inches | Panel type: TN | Resolution: 1920 x 1080 | Response time: 1ms | Refresh rate: 240Hz | Aspect ratio: 16:9
The BenQ ZOWIE XL2546 is packed with features aimed directly at esports gamers, and boasts excellent blur reduction but you need to decide whether you can do without adaptive sync.
Performance: This monitor has extremely high performance but we wont compare this factor, See above for the reason why.
Design & Build Quality: The design is minimalistic and has a small but sturdy base which allows you to position your mouse and keyboard closer to the screen than many of the other monitors reviewed here. There are detachable shields on either side of the screen that are designed to help you avoid distractions during public gaming events. One unique features is the s-switch which is a small controller that fits into the monitor base that allows you to easily change between color presets or to navigate the OSD. There is one DVI port, 2 x HDMI, 1 x Display link on the back. On the side there are two USB ports, an audio jack and even a bar that pops out to hang your headphones on.
Adaptive Sync Technology: None. BenQ do not utilise G Sync or FreeSync so the refresh rate will always be 240hz. This is not an issue if you have a powerful enough PC to maintain 240 FPS, if your FPS drops then then you will experience some screen tearing, the effect becomes more noticeable the lower your frame rate drops.
OSD, Calibration and Setup: As with many of the monitors the out of the box color accuracy is poor and you need to spend some time adjusting the colors to make it look better.
Other Considerations: The monitor has some unique features for gaming. Firstly there is Dyac (Dynamic accuracy) which is BenQ Zowies proprietary technology to reduce eye tracking motion blur. It works in a similar way to NVIDIA ULMB (Ultra low motion blur) which can be turned off/on in G-Sync monitors, however Dyac is always on. Seconding is the Black eQualizer setting with increases the visibility in dark scenes without overexposing the bright areas, allowing you to spot enemies hiding in dark areas.

Performance: This monitor contains the latest IPS 1080p 240Hz panel by AU Optronics with 178° wide viewing angles, a 400-nit peak brightness, a 1,000:1 static contrast ratio and ~100% sRGB color gamut. 5. ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM Review
Pros – Good out of the box calibration | Very Low Backlight Bleed
Cons – ELMB reduces Brightness significantly
Screen size: 24.5-inches | Panel type: IPS | Resolution: 1920 x 1080 | Response time: 1ms MPRT | Refresh rate: 240Hz (280Hz Overlockable) | Aspect ratio: 16:9 | Release date: April 2020
The ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM is one of the many new generations of 24.5-Inch 1080p 240Hz IPS monitors with 1ms (MPRT) response times and was released in April 2020. Note that there is also a 27-Inch version, the ASUS VG279QM.
Performance: Whilst using a similar panel to many of the latest generation of IPS 1080p 240hz monitors, ASUS has added the option to overclock it to 280Hz. The difference in refresh rate is really noticeable if you compare it side by side with a 240Hz monitor. The ELMB (extreme low motion blur) sync feature does a great job at reducing motion blur but turning it on has a significant impact on the brightness levels. This could become a problem if you are using it in a well-lit room.
Design & Build Quality: Whilst not as premium as ASUS ROG monitors, the design quality is still above average. The plastic stand is quite sturdy and allows you to adjust the height, tilt, and rotation but not swivel. There is an audio jack, display port 1.2, and 2 x HDMI ports on the back.
OSD, Calibration and Setup: The OSD is controlled by a clickable joystick. A nice touch is that all of the most commonly used options appear on the first screen. There are not a huge amount of options to calibrate but the default “racing mode” preset is well setup. It features some of the lowest backlight bleed compared to many other IPS monitors.
Adaptive Sync Technology: Freesync and G-Sync Compatible
6. LG 27GN750 Review
Pros – Incredible performance | Great color accuracy
Cons – Backlight bleed noticeable | Stand not very Sturdy
Screen size: 27-inches | Panel type: IPS | Resolution: 1920 x 1080 | Response time: 1ms | Refresh rate: 240Hz | Aspect ratio: 16:9 | Release date: February 2020
The LG 27GN750 is one of the many new generations of 27-Inch 1080p 240Hz IPS monitors with 1ms response times and was released in February 2020.
Performance: Boasting an advertised 1ms g2g response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, 16.7m color depth, and 99% sRGB gamut. You can expect amazing gaming performance and great color accuracy. It holds up well against similar IPS monitors but can’t compete with the response times of the latest generation TN panels.
Design & Build Quality: The design is similar to LGs other gaming monitors with 3 very thin bezels and a triangular base. Unfortunately, the stand is plastic and is not very sturdy, especially is you raise the monitor height. The stand allows you to adjust height, tilt, and rotation but not swivel. There are 3 x USB ports, audio jack, display port 1.4, and 2 x HDMI ports on the back. A hook on the back of the stand allows for some cable management.
OSD, Calibration and Setup: The OSD is controlled by a joystick on the bottom of the monitor and there are several presets. The out of the box color accuracy is great but the panel suffers from some backlight bleed in dark scenes.
Adaptive Sync Technology: G-Sync Compatible
